Since Matty's death, over £10,000 has been raised by family and friends in a variety of ways including the Boxing Day dip, a bungee jump and a Race Night. Fund raising in this way, has helped all who knew Matthew to somehow make sense of his death. These valuable funds have been raised to support the immensely important Great North Air Ambulance which, let's face it, anyone could need at any time.
On July 11 2010, two years since Matthew's death there is an opportunity for even more funds to be raised. A 7-a-side football tournament has been organised to be held at New Marske Sports Club commencing at 10:00 am. It is planned that this will be a fun family event which anyone can attend.
Thirty two teams are playing for the prestigious honour of being the second winners of the Matthew Heath Memorial Trophy. Entrance to spectators is free but there will be plenty of opportunities to donate to the Great North Air Ambulance as members of the Air Ambulance will be in attendance. There are fun events planned including a Raffle, Tombola and a Bouncy Castle. Refreshments are available from a variety of mobile food outlets and of course the Sports Club bar will be open.

Great North Air Ambulance:
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) operates three helicopters based at Teesside, Cumbria and Northumberland. It has been proven time and time again that helicopters are vital for the transportation of time-critical injured or ill patients to specialising hospitals. The Service receives no government or lottery funding, relying solely on the generosity of the public and with costs of £3.6M per year to keep the helicopters running, fundraising is vital!
